Over the last month, we’ve been hard at work updating and improving QuickVid so videos are generated faster and so you have more options available to you.
This short post will outline some of those updates, bug fixes, and other things we did to provide a better experience for you.
New features
In August, we spent a lot of time on a particular feature – Reddit Stories.
Reddit stories allow you to create a video that appears to be taken from content on Reddit.
The nice thing is that you have two options when it comes to producing content for your video.
Option one: Look for trending or viral content on Reddit. Things like stories or shocking news items that can be repurposed into stories work well. Copy and paste it into QuickVid, and the rest is handled for you.
Option two: You can use our AI engine to create a unique story for you. All you need to do is supply the topic and any instructions and you’ll get a compelling story in less than a minute. Of course, you can edit it so it meets your standards.
After you’ve created the story, just follow the creation wizard to the end and your video will be generated within about ten minutes.
There are many options to choose from within the wizard:
- The Avatar image. There are a little under 20 default avatars to choose from. You can also upload your own.
- Name of the User: This is the name that will appear on the title card. You may want to make it a consistent name or change it every time. It’s your call.
- The Title: This will be read out during the voice narration so make sure to choose a title that gets people interested
- The story: This is the main text that will be narrated and keep users engaged. Make sure it’s a good one.
- The captions: You can choose from multiple options when creating captions such as the color, font, background highlights, size, etc. Note that captions always appear in the center of the video.
- The background video: This video works together with your narration to keep viewers engaged. There are a few dozen options to choose from right now and we’re regularly adding more video options to the mix.
- Voiceover Narration: You can choose from multiple voiceovers to make your video. There’s a small description below each voice and you can also play them before making your choice.
That’s it. Choose all your options and create your video. The entire process will take a few minutes.
Bug fixes
We discovered an error in which the UGC hook videos and the UGC demo videos were not processing uploaded background music. If you tried to upload your background music, the video generation would fail.
We went in and fixed the bug. It was one of those bugs that once you fix this, you realize that you need to fix something else.
At the end of the day, we were able to improve the app by leaps and bounds by following the breadcrumbs.
It was an overhaul that’ll serve you for a long time to come.
Quality of life improvements
Here’s a list of things that improved the application. You won’t notice them but they make your experience better overall.
- Improved microcopy within the application to make it easier to navigate and understand what’s going on
- Decoupled some of the architecture so that the app moves faster and rendering is smoother. In other words, the backend is more efficient so your experience is better.
- Added fifty more default AI avatars that can be used to generate UGC videos
- Added more options for AI voiceovers
Conclusion
August was a busy month for us and we’re constantly surprised at how much you can accomplish with AI.
We’re exploring ways to produce different types of video content that are guaranteed to get you engagement. We won’t spill the beans yet but be on the look out for it in September.
